Can artificial intelligence analyze a text with the precision of an insightful reader and draw conclusions about the plot? How can the publishing process be improved using algorithms and machine learning?
We invite everyone to participate in a discussion, during which you can learn about the latest global achievements in the use of machine learning for text analysis and whether the Polish publishing industry can benefit from it. We will not only look at how artificial intelligence and big data help us to do better what we already do, but also how they will enable the creation of new information.
A debate with the participation of specialists in the field of machine learning, data analysis and representatives of the book industry will take place on October 25 (Friday), at 14:00 in the seminar room LWÓW (Expo Krakow, ul. Galicyjska 9). Free entrance.
The use of AI in literature is becoming a reality. The publishing activity has changed a lot in the last few decades; publishing has gone digital, but the processes have largely remained the same. The author writes a book, the editor corrects the text, which is then printed. However, during this period, the scale and complexity of the publisher’s work increased dramatically. Annually, over 38,000 titles are published.
Today, no specialist is able to keep up with research in their field; similarly, publishers can no longer use traditional manual editing and printing methods. Thus, the entire publishing process requires some thought, and AI tools can contribute to an increase in the efficiency and quality of the publishing process. Computers are no substitute for humans, but many human activities can be made better and better with AI tools.
Literacka, a startup from the Olsztyn Science and Technology Park, analyzes large corpuses of text in Polish on an unprecedented scale. It offers both techniques and tools based on artificial intelligence and automatic evaluation of publications.
– The more activities we entrust to artificial intelligence, the more time we will have for more creative tasks related to publishing – says Dr. Krzysztof Sopyła, CIO Literacka.
– During the Friday meeting, it will be possible to join the research and development project planned for 2020 – he adds. – We hope that thanks to talks with publishers we will be able to get to know their needs and plan project research in such a way that the results will improve the publishing process.
The debate program also includes the analysis of the book content by machine learning algorithms as part of the presentation of the results of research in the project “Automatic reviewer – intelligent book recommendation system” co-financed by the National Center for Research and Development.
