In order for SZREK (System of Advanced Book Recommendations) to be the smartest and recommend books in the best possible way – its database is still fed with information about how people perceive the content of readings.
In December, members of the Book Discussion Clubs operating at libraries, customers of bookstores with Publio.pl e-books and fans of the Czarne publishing house books participated in the project, evaluating any titles – those that they had read recently and those that they had read from years ago. It is important to remember the content and feelings that accompany the reading. Interestingly – mostly books were chosen that we would recommend to others to read, those that we considered weak or were indifferent to us – they were rarely assessed by readers.
Anyone can become an AI “researcher”
There is still a chance to contribute to a better education of SZREK. The competition has just started and it will last until the end of March! Anyone who evaluates as many books as possible has a chance to win a weekend at the exclusive Dr Irena Eris SPA Hotel in Wzgórze Dylewskie and a mountain of books to make it a really “read” stay! Every day it will also be possible to get vouchers worth PLN 100, PLN 50 and PLN 30 (depending on the position in the ranking of evaluators) to be redeemed on empik.com.
To take part in the competition, you have to go to the website codoczytania.pl, search for the book you have read and indicate any number of features that characterize its plot (using specially prepared sliders).
It is not obligatory to indicate all eighteen features that will appear on the screen. It is important to choose those that are relevant to the content of the book. Any fiction, non-fiction and youth titles can be assessed in this way. The search engine does not find textbooks and books for children under 7 years of age. The more books we have read and we are able to judge – the greater the chance of winning. Each day you can re-enter the contest, but the same book can only be tagged once. The assessments will be verified by a system that will compare the data with information stored in an expert database.
