Automatic Reviewer – an intelligent book recommendation system

Literacka Sp. z o. o. implements a research and development project co-financed by the National Center for Research and Development.

In the preparation phase for the project, a database of several thousand titles and information about the plot of books in the fiction and non-fiction category, published in Poland in 2011-2018, was collected. We are working to ensure that our “robot” reads the content of electronic books and, by analyzing the data collected from experts in the field of literary studies, assigns the plot characteristics to each book just like the human – reviewer.

The aforementioned project called: “Automatic Reviewer – Intelligent Book Recommendation System” aims to create an AI-intelligent book recommendation system software based on deep learning and natural language processing techniques. The solution based on neural networks concerns the automatic analysis of the content of books in Polish and English, finding similar plot and narrative features in order to create a recommendation system. This will make it easier for readers to make a decision when choosing to read from among the thousands of titles published annually on the market.

The research started on July 1 this year. allow for the creation of a book recommendation system based on automatic content analysis by artificial intelligence. The developed algorithms will enable an innovative approach to building a probability relationship for the construction of a personalized book offer. The system will support the decision-making process when buying and borrowing a book, taking into account the properties of the plot and finding similarities in the features of the plot, which determine that the reader likes a given book and not others.

The research and development project called “Automatic Reviewer – intelligent book recommendation system” is co-financed by the National Center for Research and Development under the action “R&D projects of enterprises” (contract no. POIR.01.01.01-00-1118 / 17-00 ).
