On May 6-12, the 3rd edition of the Book Targ Virtual Book Fair was held – the largest, free online event for book fans. The program also included an industry part, addressed to all people interested in the reading industry. Book Targ Branżowy was held under the slogan ” Success despite adversities, or effective solutions for difficult times”.

As part of the event, there were lectures, presentations, discussions and workshops, including a part dedicated to libraries called Konferencja Biblioteka 5.0 , which was a novelty in the 3rd edition of the Book of the Trade Fair. Polish and foreign publishers, booksellers and librarians shared their experiences. Technology and marketing experts presented proven solutions.

Over the course of three days, the participants of Book Targ Branżowy took part in 17 online events . Webinars, lectures and discussions were conducted by a total of 44 speakers from Poland, Germany and Norway. A total of 5,260 spectators attended all the meetings.

A lecture on “New ways of reaching readers” as part of the Library 5.0 conference, discussion “Act on the protection of the book market, a panacea for the problems of the publishing industry?” organized by the Polish Chamber of Books and a meeting of the Book Institute entitled “The cult of reading” – naive dreams or development strategy? “.

During the Book Targ Branżowy event, guests from abroad also had their speeches. Ralf Winkler talked about the use of artificial intelligence in the publishing industry in Germany, and Espen Røsbak shared his Norwegian experiences in the field of online library activities during the pandemic.

The BookScout.ai application, created by the Literacka Technologie company, had its premiere at the Book Targ Branżowy. BookScout.ai was created with the challenges of the publishing industry in mind. It uses artificial intelligence algorithms in the analysis of the content of books and big data in order to adjust the publishing proposal to the publisher’s profile and to estimate the market potential of the publication.

The organizers of Book Targ Branżowy were: Legimi, Allegro, Lubimy Read, the Polish Chamber of Books, Literary Technologies and the Raczyński Library.

The Library 5.0 conference was held as part of the project “Artificial intelligence in the service of books” co-financed under the “Culture” program from the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021. The project leader is the Raczyński Library , the partners are Literacka Technologie, the City of Poznań, NORLA (Norwegian Literature Abroad), and the Book Institute.
